SAMS Announces Addition of Colonel (Ret.) Vic Suarez as Senior Advisor

WASHINGTON D.C., November 8, 2023 — Today, Securing America’s Medicines and Supply (SAMS) formally announced the addition of Colonel (Ret.) Vic Suarez as a Senior Advisor to the Coalition.

Suarez joins SAMS after service of over 27 years in the U.S. Army in worldwide operational, healthcare supply chain, acquisition, and product development roles, including two combat tours in the Middle East as a medical company and battalion commander. He recently served as the Senior Medical Acquisition Consultant at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command’s (MRDC) Tech Transfer, IP/Patent and Business Development Office at Fort Detrick, MD. He also served as the Commander of the 6th Medical Logistics Management Center, a globally deployed healthcare supply chain, information systems, and biomedical maintenance solutions organization.

In 2020-2021, Suarez was hand-selected to serve as lead Vaccine Program Manager for the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine at Operation Warp Speed (OWS). He served in the U.S. Army for nearly three decades in worldwide operational, healthcare supply chain, acquisition, and product development roles. Prior to COVID-19, he served as Chief of Staff of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), DOD’s largest biomedical research laboratory, and was the Joint Product Manager of the Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program (JVAP), a biodefense advanced development vaccine program, where he played key roles in the advanced development and delivery of both the FDA licensed Ebola and MPOX vaccines.

“Our coalition is excited to partner with Vic to expand SAMS’s effectiveness in policy and engagement with the U.S. government—as well as extending industry partners,” said David Sanders, Executive Director of SAMS. “Colonel (Ret.) Suarez’s depth of experience in service to our country is extremely valuable, and his input will foster long-term solutions to address drug shortages and spur U.S. biomedical manufacturing.”

“It is an honor to join SAMS,” said Suarez. “I look forward to sharing strategic insights with our membership and engaging with a broad coalition of stakeholders as we work to accomplish this critical mission for our American patients.”

SAMS membership and advisors are dedicated to working with Congressional stakeholders and the Administration to implement broad legislative solutions to improve and sustain the U.S. medical supply chain for pharmaceuticals, devices, and essential med-surgical items.
