Life Sciences and Tech Coalition SAMS Announces Addition of Two New Members

AmerisourceBergen and fluidIQ Join Coalition to Secure America’s Medical Supply Chain

WASHINGTON, January 25, 2022 —The Securing America’s Medicines and Supply Coalition (SAMS) announced today the addition of AmerisourceBergen and fluidIQ™ to its coalition of companies with the mission to strengthen the security of the medical supply chain in the United States. These new additions bring SAMS’s membership to six companies.

AmerisourceBergen is a global healthcare company, with a foundation in pharmaceutical distribution and solutions for manufacturers, pharmacies, and providers, to create unparalleled access, efficiency, and reliability for human and animal health. Its 42,000 global team members power its purpose: to create healthier futures.

“As a leader in the global supply chain and here in the U.S., we partner and serve hospitals, pharmacies, community physician practices and veterinarians every single day, and we have a responsibility to help ensure timely and sustainable access to critical medicines,” said David Senior, Senior Vice President of Market Economics at AmerisourceBergen. “Part of that responsibility requires us to build on what we’re doing inside our company and look externally to build relationships and participate in industry discussions and initiatives that support our goal of creating high-quality, robust, safe, and transparent supply chains. Joining SAMs is part of that effort and we’re excited to roll up our sleeves with members of the Coalition, as well as federal agencies and members of government, and think through major issues and opportunities within our supply chains.”

fluidIQ, a public benefit and Delaware corporation, provides simple yet elegant solutions based on proprietary fluidics technology. The company was founded by a group of doctors, engineers and patient advocates who joined together to find solutions for gaps in medical needs, including ventilators, in the midst of the coronavirus-caused world crisis. fluidIQ aims to deliver hope to a world in need with simple, easy-to-deploy technology solutions that solve the most pressing medical challenges of our time.

“We are honored to join this important coalition and work together with SAMS and companies including AmerisourceBergen to solve the most pressing medical challenges of our time,” said Matt Vogelhuber, R. Ph., Chief Executive Officer at fluidIQ. “We are committed to providing simple yet elegant medical devices that are nimble, robust, and rapidly deployable to help strengthen our nation’s supply chain.”

“We are thrilled to welcome AmerisourceBergen and fluidIQ to SAMS.  Their experience and innovation to foster more American made health products will help as policymakers address the ongoing supply chain challenges,” said David Sanders, Executive Director of SAMS. “We look forward to working with their teams as we pursue our legislative and regulatory priorities in 2022.”

All pharmaceutical & medical supply companies, distributors, and manufacturers with an interest in near-shoring the U.S. medical supply chain are eligible for consideration of membership in SAMS. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a member of SAMS, please contact us here.
